Dermal filler injections are a non-surgical cosmetic procedure used to restore volume and fullness to the face, smooth wrinkles, soften creases, and enhance facial contours. Fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid and similar gel-like substances that when injected beneath the skin, act to fill in or plump specific areas such as the cheeks, lips, and under-eye area. They can also be used to remove wrinkles around the mouth, forehead, or other areas that need smoothing.

Am I a good candidate for fillers?
You may be a good candidate for fillers if you are in generally good health, do not smoke, and you are committed to maintaining good skin health and have realistic goals in mind. The filler products we carry, Restylane, are intended for patients over the age of 21.
Patients typically get filler to restore lost volume, enhance facial contours, or reduce the appearance of wrinkles for a more youthful, refreshed look. If you have extensive skin sagging, other treatments, such as a facelift or brow lift may be more effective depending on your goals. During your consultation, we will evaluate your area of concern and make sure that you are a good candidate for fillers.

Types of fillers
The most common types of dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid though there are others formulated with polylactic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, polyalkylimide, and polymethyl-methacrylate microspheres (PMMA).
At our office, we offer hyaluronic acid (HA) based dermal fillers. HA is a naturally occurring substance in the body that provides hydration and plumpness to the skin. We carry the full line of Restylane products, which are designed to mimic your body’s own HA for natural-looking results.
The Restylane portfolio includes: Restylane, Restylane-L, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Silk, Restylane Kysse, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Contour, and Restylane Eyelight. What to expect throughout your filler procedure
Before your treatment, we'll carefully map out strategic injection points on your face and clean the area with an antibacterial solution. We may apply a topical anesthetic to numb the area and many of the fillers we use contain lidocaine, which is a mild anesthetic to reduce discomfort.
Our dermal filler injections are administered by fellowship-trained plastic surgeons specializing in injectable treatments. During this minimally invasive procedure, we use a very fine needle to inject the filler into the skin. The entire process usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour.

Results and recovery process
You should be able to see results almost immediately after receiving dermal filler injections. Hyaluronic acid fillers typically last between 6 and 18 months, depending on the area treated and individual patient. While these fillers are a temporary option, which we often recommend for first-time filler patients, fat injections are designed to be a more permanent solution.
Filler injections usually require little to no downtime. You may experience mild swelling or bruising for a few days, which can be reduced with an ice pack. It’s best to avoid intense physical activity for the first 24-48 hours to help minimize swelling.
