Wrinkle Relaxers Before and After

Wrinkle relaxers are injectable treatments that utilize botulinum toxin (like Botox or Dysport), to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. These injections work by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles responsible for expressions that cause lines, such as frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead creases. The treatment smooths the skin in these areas, creating a refreshed and more youthful appearance. Results can appear within a few days and last several months. Wrinkle Relaxers FAQ

Botox is a brand name for a wrinkle relaxer that uses botulinum toxin to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that cause them. Wrinkle relaxers, as a general term, include Botox and other similar products (like Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau) that work in the same way to smooth out lines and wrinkles on the face.

Most patients see full results within three to seven days after treatment, depending on the individual, the area treated, and the product used with full results being visible at two weeks.

The effects of wrinkle relaxers usually last between three to six months for most brands. This varies by product, the area treated, and the patient's individual response.

Botox injections are generally not painful, as the needles used are extremely small. Most patients experience little to no discomfort, and many say the injections feel like a small pinch.

Common side effects of wrinkle relaxers can include mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site. In rare cases, patients may experience headaches, drooping eyelids, or asymmetry in facial expressions. These side effects are usually temporary and subside within a few days to a week.

When you stop using Botox, your muscles will gradually regain their normal activity. This means that over time, wrinkles may start to reappear and will eventually return to their original appearance prior to treatment. There are no long-term effects from stopping use, and wrinkles will not worsen beyond what is typical for natural aging.
