About breast fat transfer
What is breast fat transfer?
Breast fat transfer is a breast augmentation method that uses your own body fat to enhance breasts. Also known as breast fat grafting, this surgical procedure uses liposuction to remove fat from areas such as the abdomen, flanks, or thighs and injects it into your breasts. The result is a more natural look and feel, with the added benefit of slimming the donor area where the fat is taken from.
This procedure gives you a modest breast enhancement, typically increasing breast size by up to one cup, without the use of artificial implants.

Breast fat transfer candidacy
Am I a good candidate for breast fat transfer?
We will determine if you're a good candidate for breast fat transfer during your consultation. In order to qualify, you’ll need to have enough fat in donor areas, such as the hips, abdomen, or thighs—to achieve your desired results. Patients with low body fat may not be good candidates for this procedure. Ideal candidates are non-smokers, in good overall health, and able to maintain a stable weight.
Many patients choose breast fat transfer as a more natural alternative to breast implants. If you’re looking for a larger increase in volume (more than one cup size), we can combine fat transfer with implants for a more refined outcome. Fat transfer can also compliment a breast lift to achieve a fuller, perkier appearance.

WITH BREAST FAT TRANSFER, WE CAN FIX:
Small breast size
Asymmetrical breasts
Undesirable breast shape
Loss of volume after pregnancy or weight loss
Unwanted fat from areas like the abdomen or thighs
Unbalanced body fat distribution
About breast fat transfer
Types of liposuction procedures
We offer three primary liposuction techniques: tumescent, VASER, and MicroAire Power. During your private consultation, we will discuss which option best suits your needs.
Tumescent liposuction is the gold standard for liposuction. This method involves injecting a solution containing local anesthesia and epinephrine into the treatment area before fat removal. This helps reduce bleeding, swelling, and discomfort after the procedure.
VASER liposuction is a state-of-the-art technology that uses ultrasound waves to gently dislodge fat cells without disturbing the surrounding tissues. By precisely targeting fat cells, this approach achieves smoother body sculpting while minimizing damage to surrounding tissues, resulting in less swelling and pain, and a faster recovery time.
MicroAire liposuction, also known as power-assisted liposuction (PAL), uses a vibrating suction device to break up fat cells more easily. This gives the surgeon better control and helps reduce the overall procedure time. MicroAire can also be combined with VASER liposuction for maximum fat removal for transfer.

Expectations
What to expect throughout your breast fat transfer procedure
Breast fat transfer is performed under general anesthesia so you are completely asleep and pain-free throughout the procedure. This anesthesia is administered and monitored by a certified anesthetist, ensuring your safety at all times.
During the procedure, we will harvest fat from your selected donor areas, purify the fat cells to maximize their viability and integrity for transfer, then strategically inject the fat into your breasts. The surgery can take between three to four hours to complete.
We will discuss the entire procedure in detail with you beforehand so you know exactly what to expect during and after surgery.

Breast fat transfer recovery
Results and recovery process
It takes approximately four to six weeks to recover after a breast fat transfer procedure. During the initial recovery period, you should plan to have one to two weeks of downtime.
Most patients experience tenderness, bruising, and swelling in both the donor and injection sites for the first week. During this time, you will need to wear compression garments or a surgical bra to minimize swelling and support healing. After a successful follow-up, you’ll be able to start exercising again, typically after four to six weeks.
After surgery, you'll see immediate volume and contour improvements, though the initial results are obscured by swelling, and some fat absorption will occur. By six weeks, the remaining fat is typically incorporated into your tissue and you will be able to see the true shape and size of your breasts. If more volume is desired or a significant amount of fat is absorbed by your body, additional sessions may be needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
You may be a good candidate for breast fat transfer if you have enough excess fat in areas like the abdomen, hips, or thighs and want a subtle increase in breast size without implants. Ideal candidates are non-smokers, in good health, have a stable weight, and have realistic expectations.
The recovery time for breast fat transfer is around four to six weeks in total. Most patients can return to normal activities within a week, but need to avoid exercise or strenuous activity for at least four to six weeks to allow for proper healing.
The results from breast fat transfer are considered permanent, as long as you maintain a stable weight. Once the transferred fat has successfully integrated into your breast tissue and established a blood supply, they are permanent. Of course, natural aging processes will continue to affect your breast shape, volume, or position over time.
Significant weight loss may lead to a reduction in breast volume, as the transferred fat cells can shrink just like the fat in other parts of your body. However, if your weight remains stable, the results are generally long-lasting.
Most patients can expect an increase in breast volume of about half to one cup size, depending on the amount of excess fat available for transfer and how well the body integrates the transferred fat cells.
