About renuvion

What is Renuvion?

Renuvion an innovative body contouring technology designed to treat loose skin and soft tissues. Formerly known as J-Plasma, the Renuvion is a minimally invasive procedure that utilizes a dual combination of radiofrequency energy and helium plasma to contract the soft tissues and pull the skin closer to the muscle for a firmer, smoother appearance.

Renuvion can be used to firm and tighten almost any area on the body, either as a standalone procedure or in combination liposuction or other lift procedures to optimize results.

Renuvion candidacy

Am I a good candidate for Renuvion?

You may be a good candidate for Renuvion if you are in good overall health, at or near your ideal body weight, and have mild to moderate loose skin. Renuvion is effective for tightening and smoothing skin in older patients, and it may also be a good option for younger patients who don’t yet want or need a surgical lift.

We see both men and women opting for Renuvion as a minimally invasive way to address sagging or loose skin due to aging, weight loss, pregnancy, or after liposuction. We recommend adding Renuvion to all of our liposuction procedures for superior results. However, if you have more skin or muscle laxity in the abdomen area, a tummy tuck may be a better option.

WITH RENUVION, WE CAN FIX LOOSE SKIN IN THE:

  • Upper face

  • Jawline

  • Under the chin

  • Neck

  • Chest and décolletage

  • Upper arms

  • Abdomen

  • Inner and outer thighs

  • Buttocks

About renuvion

How does Renuvion work?

The Renuvion device releases a combination of radiofrequency waves and helium gas, effectively delivering controlled heat and cooling simultaneously, which causes the soft tissue to contract, tighten up, and create new collagen.

Radiofrequency energy safely heats the deepest layers under the skin, instantly causing the tissue to contract and trigger collagen production, which is essential for maintaining skin elasticity.

Helium gas is turned into cold helium plasma, providing a cooling effect within the treatment area. After the tissue is heated by the radiofrequency energy, it is promptly cooled by the helium plasma to protect the tissues and maintain patient comfort.

Expectations

What to expect throughout your Renuvion procedure

Renuvion can be performed under either general and local anesthesia. Your doctor will discuss these options with you and recommend which type of anesthesia is best based on the area receiving treatment.

During the procedure, very small entry points are made just under the skin. The Renuvion device is gently inserted under the skin and releases radiofrequency energy and helium plasma to contract or coagulate the soft tissues as needed. A Renuvion treatment usually takes around 15-30 minutes per treatment area. Once the treatment is complete, we will place a bandage over the insertion sites.

Our team will discuss the procedure in more detail with you during your pre-operative appointments.

Renuvion recovery

Results and recovery process

The total recovery time for Renuvion skin tightening can range from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the number of areas being treated and whether the Renuvion treatment was combined with other surgical procedures, such as liposuction.

You may experience bruising or swelling for the first week and you may need to wear a compression garment after skin tightening to prevent swelling. Most patients are able to return to work within a week.

The skin tightening effect of Renuvion can be seen almost immediately and improvements in skin tone and firmness will continue over six months after treatment.

Renuvion cost

How much does Renuvion cost?

The cost of Renuvion varies depending on several factors, including the treatment area, the extent of treatment, the type of anesthesia used, and whether other procedures, such as liposuction, were performed at the same time. Renuvion alone generally has costs comparable to liposuction, given the time and work involved are similar.

At our practice, we often recommend combining Renuvion with liposuction for enhanced results, offering a substantial discount for combining Renuvion and liposuction. We will discuss pricing with you during your early appointments, where we’ll develop a customized treatment plan and provide a more accurate estimate based on your specific needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

We perform Renuvion procedures under anesthesia so you will not feel any pain. If local anesthesia is used, patients may experience mild discomfort during the procedure. After the treatment, patients may experience some localized soreness for a few days.

Renuvion is a minimally invasive procedure that typically produces very little or no scarring.

While the results of Renuvion skin tightening last for several years, no cosmetic procedure can stop the natural effects of aging, and your skin will continue to lose elasticity over time. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and taking proper care of your skin can help prolong your results. A combination of vitamins A, E, and C can also improve your skin health and maintain your Renuvion results.

Ideal candidates for Renuvion are those seeking a minimally invasive solution for skin tightening, particularly in areas showing signs of sagging or loss of elasticity. Patients should be in good overall health and at or near their ideal weight.

Renuvion produces immediate results, though it can take six months or more to see the full results as collagen reforms.

Yes, Renuvion is FDA-approved for soft tissue coagulation after liposuction. Even though soft tissue contraction occurs as a side effect of Renuvion, the device has not been approved for skin tightening. The FDA issued a warning against using Renuvion for “skin tightening”, as using it specifically for that purpose carries a risk of thermal burn. In our practice, we utilize Renuvion in line with the soft tissue coagulation indications, helping to decrease the risk of bleeding and improve laxity of soft tissues.
