About body contouring
What is body contouring?
Body contouring refers to a set of cosmetic procedures that reshape and sculpt your body, often after major weight loss. The goal is to lift, tighten, and sculpt specific areas by removing excess fat and skin.
Most surgical body contouring treatments involve liposuction to remove fat, and in some cases, implants or fat transfer for breast or butt augmentation (Brazilian butt lift) to create an hourglass figure. Body contouring can also sculpt stubborn areas such as the arms, thighs, back, or tummy to refine your body. The most common areas involved in body contouring are: tummy, waist, bra roll and back. This group of areas are packaged together in Liposuction 360 or Lipo360. The goal of Lipo360 is to create and refine a shaped contour.

Body contouring candidacy
Am I a good candidate for body contouring?
During your consultation, we will discuss your goals and assess whether you’re a good candidate for body contouring. You should be at a stable ideal weight or near-ideal weight at the time of surgery, in good health overall, and not a smoker.
Many patients who undergo body contouring have lost a significant amount of weight, leaving behind loose skin. Body contouring is not a weight-loss solution but rather a way to remove excess fat and skin to achieve a more defined body shape with smoother contours.

WITH BODY CONTOURING, WE CAN FIX:
Excess sagging skin
Stubborn pockets of fat
Lack of volume in the breasts or buttocks
Undefined waistline or other areas of the body
Dimpled, irregular skin surface
The overall balance of your figure
About body contouring
Types of body contouring procedures
We offer a range of proprietary body contouring techniques. Procedures may include liposuction, an arm lift, breast rejuvenation (lift, augmentation, or reduction), facelift, lower body lift, thigh lift, or tummy tuck. Your surgeon will work closely with you to create a personalized treatment plan that is tailored to your body type and goals.
We almost always include liposuction in our body contouring procedures to remove excess fat and sculpt the body. We use a combination of tumescent liposuction, VASER®, MicroAire® and Renuvion® technologies for optimal results.
An arm lift corrects sagging skin on the upper arm using an incision that typically extends from the underarm area along the inside or back of the upper arm to restore a youthful, more toned arm shape.
A breast lift reshapes sagging, flattened breasts. Different incision patterns may be used to create a more youthful, perkier breast. Some patients add implants to further enhance the shape and size of their breasts.
After massive weight loss, some patients may require a full lower body lift to help remove the “belt” of excess skin and fat around the lower abdomen, buttocks, and thighs.
A thigh lift removes excess fat from the inner and outer thighs and tightens loose skin for smoother, better-proportioned contours.
A tummy tuck sculpts the waistline by removing excess fat and hanging, stretched skin on the abdomen, usually following pregnancy or weight loss.

Expectations
What to expect throughout your body contouring procedure
Body contouring procedures are generally performed under general anesthesia, but they can also be performed with local anesthesia, allowing you to remain awake. Your surgeon will talk to you about which option is best for you.
During surgery, incisions are made to allow your surgeon to remove excess fat and skin and improve the tone of underlying tissue. We will carefully place incisions so that the resulting scars are in the least noticeable areas possible. After the procedure is complete, incisions are gently closed and covered with dressings or bandages.
Body contouring often takes place in stages, and full results may take time to achieve. Your surgeon will create a surgical plan based on your particular goals and condition.

Body contouring recovery
Results and recovery process
You’ll notice improved body contours immediately following surgery, though it can take two years or more to see the final results as your body heals.
The recovery time will depend on your specific procedure. In general, patients should plan to take at least two weeks off work, but a full recovery may take several months. After surgery, you may need to wear compression garments or use small surgical drains to remove excess fluids. You’ll likely experience bruising and swelling in the treated areas, and you will likely need to take pain medication during the initial recovery period.
We will give you detailed post-procedure care instructions to make sure you heal properly.

Frequently Asked Questions
You may be a good candidate for body contouring if you are at or near your ideal weight but still have stubborn areas of fat or excess skin that diet and exercise can't address. You should also be in good overall health and have realistic expectations.
The results of body contouring can be long-lasting and even permanent if you maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. Major weight fluctuations or aging can affect the results over time.
Body contouring is not a weight-loss procedure; it’s designed to reshape and sculpt areas of the body by removing excess fat and skin. While you may shed some weight in the process, the goal is to enhance body contours rather than significantly reduce weight.
This depends on the type of procedures used, but most patients experience mild to moderate discomfort following surgical body contouring that can be managed with prescribed pain medication.
